San Martino di Castrozza
An idyllic village in the southern part of the Dolomites, at the foot of the Pale di San Martino, dominated by the 3,192 m high peak of Vezano.
The Brentell creek runs through the village and was blocked by the locals to have enough water to artificially snow up as much as 95% of all their ski slopes under favorable weather conditions.
A place that hedges at an altitude of about 1,400 m.n.m. It is also part of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Nature Park.
San Martino was at times a resting place for travelers who traveled across the Alps through the Rolle Pass.
This is reminiscent of an old Romanesque church dedicated to St. Martin. Today, about 600 people live in the town, and earn their living almost exclusively on tourism. It has a long tradition in the town, since the first hotel was built at the end of the 19th century.
Today, San Martino boasts top quality accommodations with well-groomed ski slopes over 60 km in length, 24 facilities that take skiers as high as 2,700 m high, with a ski bus that takes skiers to the starting point every 15 minutes for unforgettable skiing pleasures.
The village also has a large sports center and plenty of small shops, inns, restaurants, so everything is perfect for an unforgettable snow experience.
