San Martino di Castrozza is an idyllic village in the southern part of the Dolomites, at the foot of the Pale di San Martin mountain range, dominated by the 3,192 m high peak of Vezana. 
The Brentell creek runs through the village, which was blocked by the locals to have enough water to artificially snow up as much as 95% of all their ski slopes in favorable weather conditions. 
A place that hedges at an altitude of about 1,400 m.n.m. It is also part of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Nature Park.

San Martino was at times a resting place for travelers who traveled across the Alps through the Rolle Pass. 
This is reminiscent of an old Romanesque church dedicated to St. Martin. Today, about 600 people live in the town and earn their living almost exclusively in tourism. 
It has a long tradition in the town, since the first hotel was built at the end of the 19th century.
